Cup & Salver Final's
Cup Final

Crossley 'A vs. George 'A @ Ripley RBL

Crossley 'A will be gunning for this victory on Thursday night, after two close losses this season to George 'A.

Both previous meetings this season, have gone to George 'A, 6-5, and 4-7. These teams will be meeting for the second time in the space of 8 days. It's hard to beat a class team once, then to beat them again, but for a third time? That will take some doing!

Surely, this will be a fiercely contested final, that will probably go all of the way.

Salver Final

Railway Club vs. Riley's Rumblers @ Woking Snooker Club

Riley's Rumblers will be looking for their first Salver in three attempts, both times prior, they fell at the last hurdle. Maybe it can be third time lucky?

Railway Club are looking to cause an upset here. They beat a Division One side in the Semi Finals, 6-5. That went down to a last game thriller, so it's safe to say, they can hold their nerve!

Best of luck to all four teams.

Have a great evening!!

Who’s title is it now – its appears to be all to play for in the last fortnight.

With two games to go this year’s spoils could go one of four ways, so it’s all down to who plays who, the easier run in, coupled with holding the nerves.

Jersey Festival Of Pool

news: jersey pool.jpgJust dropping you a few lines to let you know about the Jersey Festival of Pool the biggest and longest running event of its kind in the world and which in February 2012 celebrates its 25th Anniversary

The £18,500 which attracts people from all over the UK, France and Spain ( regardless of whether they support World or Blackball rules) has events for everyone including two £5000 opens, two ladies events, a seniors (over 45’s) and the original and most eagerly contested event of the week, ‘The No Hopers and Cabbages’ to name but a few.

It also runs daily flyers has a £125 a man event and in 2012 it is looking likely that  £2000 a man event could take place.

There will be live streaming throughout the week, Poker events and lots more, but in truth even though everyone tries their best to win when at the tables, the secret of Jersey and why it is still running after all these years is the atmosphere and camaraderie that prevails during the week

In short a huge pish up!

Prices range from £169 up to £229 for the five night package at the 3* Mayfair hotel which includes Tables on Free Play all week and entry Fees into all the main advertised Festival events

Cup Prelim Round 2011
Competitions

Last week 20th October 2011 saw the preliminary round of the Founder Cup. With 16 teams in this years winter season it meant that all teams had to play and earn there place for the first round of the cup. All losing teams would be place in the salver.
So let’s take a look at who played who:

Let’s see how just a few of teams got on.

Queens Head Vs Crossley A
Not much I can say about this match apart from the Crossley dominated the match right from the start and won there match 6-0.
We don’t see many white washes so a very well done goes to Crossley A.

Catherine Of Aragon
Looking at the league tables the Catherine Of Aragon would be favorites to take the win. It looked that way when they took the first 2 frames. From 2-0 down Snooker B knuckled down to take the next 3 making it 3-2 to them after 5 frames. Could snooker B hold them off long enough to win in the second 5. Frame 6 and 7 went straight back to the Catherine making it a right battle and taking the lead for the second time. Unfortunately the Catherine could not hold on to there lead with Snooker B winning the next 3 frames and winning the match 6-4.

George A Vs Riley's Rumblers
With standard of the George A in past years I would have put my money on the George A taking a early victory but with them already losing 2 out of three matches maybe there heyday was up. It was the Rumblers that took the early lead making it 2-1 after three frames but was that lead just luck as they went on to loss the next three frames. At a score of 4-2 to the George was it all over for the rumblers or could they pull something out to get back in the hunt. The next 2 frames went the way of the rumblers to make it all square at 4-4. It was now all there for either side for the taking and with only 3 frames left every ball counted. After a tactical battle of nearly 1hr the ninth frame went to the George but the rumblers were not giving up and took the tenth to make it a 1 frame decider.
Yet another big tactical battle which even saw a re-rack taking place it was just not meant to be for the rumblers as George A managed to keep it together and take the win 6-5.

So who won and lost.

please note that in order to play in the remaining rounds of the Cup and Salver all Players must be registered no later than the first round. Any player registered after this (17th November) first round will not be able to play in the Cup and Salver. If a player is found to play in the comp that was registered after this will be classed as an unregistered player and the points they win if any will be given to the other team.

Best of luck to all in the first round.

WEST SURREY SINGLES 2011

Singles Final 2011

Sam Elliott 1 – 4 Andy Sutherland

The final took just over 45 minutes to be played, with Sam edging the first frame with two good snookers after Andy failed to read the pace of the table on a clearance. Andy then cleared with a long black to the corner to level things at 1-1 and from then on took control of the match with Sam’s best chance coming in frame 3 where he snookered himself on his penultimate ball. All in all a good final played in the right spirit with plenty of support for both players.
